Tae Kwon Do

Are you tired of the same old, same old squat, deadlift, and bench routines day after day after day?

Do you have trouble centering yourself and focusing on a given task?

Have you lost the “testicular fortitude” to seize the day and take charge of your life?

No, this isn’t a quick-fix, pill-popping late-night infomercial… this is about changing your life with a great new challenge in the form of TAE KWON DO.

Tae Kwon Do – More Than a Path to Self-Defense

Didn’t Tae Kwon Do go the way of everything else in the 80’s and die off??!!

Not so, grasshopper!

Thanks to the ever-growing popularity of UFC fights and MMA-inspired workouts, Tae Kwon Do is experiencing somewhat of a rebirth harkening back to its days of glory in the 1980s and early 90s when The Karate Kid and Chuck Norris were kicking ass and taking names.

But why should you consider adding it to your fitness regime?

Benefits of Tae Kwon Do

Ok, so you’ve noticed a new dojo has popped up in your neighborhood and your interest has been piqued.  But, honestly you’re asking yourself, what can it do for me?

We’re glad you asked!

  • Physical Fitness

Taekwondo necessitates great fitness and mental health

For the hours of hard training you devote to practicing all of the various kicks, punches, blocks, and katas, your body will have no choice but to have the fat-burning furnace kicked into OVERDRIVE.

You’ll experience a myriad of training styles in the form of aerobic conditioning, strength training, flexibility, and coordination.  The end result of your intense training will be a rewarding strong and athletic figure that no one will be asking, “Do you even lift?!”

  • Self-Discipline

No one likes to always be told what to do all the time, but guess what… you’ll never learn anything in life until you learn to shut your trap and listen!

There’s no other way around it when it comes to any form of martial arts.  You can’t learn this stuff from a book.  A qualified instructor with show you all of the ins and outs of each kick, punch, and block.

Time, patience, and practice all fall in line with learning something new and you will develop incredible self-discipline along your journey.

  • Focus

Going hand in hand with self-discipline is focus.

    Get focused with Nitramine

On this site, we’re serious about this — Nitramine is the best pre workout supplement for energy and focus — but we’ll get to that later.

Whether trying to grind out one more pushup, hold that horse stance for just 5 more aching seconds, or making sure you’re driving your hip into that punch to shatter a board, you will have to LOCKED IN and FOCUSED! Anything else will result in injury and you making a gigantic fool of yourself.

Just as your body goes through a physical transformation, your mind will develop and you will manifest an incredible amount of focus that can translate into all other avenues of life.

  • Confidence

Nothing breeds confidence like success and positive change in your life!  While confidence may not be an initial goal of yours when undertaking martial arts, it is an amazing benefit!

Your self confidence will continue to grow (not in an arrogant way) as you learn a new kick, ascend to a new rank, or win your first sparring match.  Each accomplishment will invigorate you and reassure you that you have made a FANTASTIC change in your life!

  • Self-Defense

A final perk of studying martial arts is that you will be equipped with the tools necessary to defend yourself should some belligerent jerk try to “mix things up” with you.

What Tae Kwon Do is NOT:

You’ve been busting hump for years now and feel like Bruce Leroy in The Last Dragon, and feel ready to conquer the universe.  But hold on a second and take a reality check for what Tae Kwon Do is NOT!

  • It is NOT to go around being a royal d-bag and trying to pick fights with everyone who gives you a strange look.
  • You will NOT be able to crescent kick a gun/knife/machete out of an attacker’s hand.
  • It is NOT the “best” form of martial arts (there is NO best, different strokes for different folks).
  • You will NOT be a black belt in 1 week, month or year… patience, grasshopper.
  • It is NOT easy, but with time, practice, and perseverance you WILL succeed.

Where Do I Go from Here?

Tae Kwon Do

Push yourself to the limits

Ok, you’re feeling adventurous and ready to start learning Tae Kwon Do… what’s next?!

Find a local dojo in your area and drop in to talk to the instructor. Most schools offer a few trial classes or memberships for free so that you can test the class out and see if you really are interested in it.

Fully commit yourself to these lessons and throw caution to the wind.  You will be uncoordinated and feel like a fish out of water — THIS IS OK!  We all started here.

You will only get a true sense of how you will like this if you jump in with both feet, no just putting your toes in!

After that, sit down with the instructor(s) and discuss how your experiences were and if they think this would be a good fit for you.

That’s it!  You’re ready and raring to go!
